In 1960, The Local Authorities from Akwatia approached the Bishop of Accra with request that the Catholic Mission should take over the newly built Clinic in Akwatia. The Chief of Akwatia then was Barima Kofi Bempong II. Bishop Bowers, the then Bishop of the Accra Diocese, in turn asked the Superior General of the Dominican Sisters, Rev.
